HELLO KACPER,

WHEN YOU%26#039;RE ABUT 12 THE TWELVE-YEAR-MOLARS START TO COME IN.

UNTIL THEN YOU HAVE A MIXED DENTITION,OR A COMBINATION OF ADULT AND BABY TEETH.

SOME PEOPLE DELAY IN LOOSING ALL OF THEIR BABY TEETH, BUT DON%26#039;T WORRY YOU%26#039;LL SOON CATCH UP. PEOPLE VARY SEVERAL MONTHS IN LOSING THEIR TEETH.
Reply:if you are eleven you are too young to be posting on a public forum
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry, your only 11, your still just a kid.

My 8 month old Maltese has lost all her baby teeth but one in the front. The permanent tooth is also there.?

I had her fixed in February and both of the teeth were there at that time. I didn%26#039;t think anything about it. My vet never said anything about removing it. Since I have read some of the answers on here I am worried about it. Should I pay to have her put to sleep to have it removed. She only weighs 3.4 lbs. I hate to have to do that to her.

I would have the vet take a look and determine if it needs to be removed. If its loose it may fall out on its own.

I think the vet was negligent by not taking care of this when she was there for her surgery. The vet should have noticed this retained tooth when she was examined before surgery. Vets are supposed to give a thorough exam to the animal before putting them under anesthesia. I would definately question the vet about this.

Meanwhile, you could give her crunchy milkbones to chew on. Maybe that will help loosen the tooth so it will fall out. It is very possible that this tooth will have to be removed under anesthesia. Good Luck!
Reply:Well I had to have my dogs teeth removed, but from old age. On humans a dentist would take out a baby tooth if it refuses to fall out, so I would think if you need to and can afford it have it removed. But dogs adapt to things like that. So it is up to you if you want to.

Should a child's baby teeth cavities be filled? Or let it fall off & wait for permanent teeth to maintain it?

I took my boys to the dentist and found out they both have some cavities and will cost almost 100/cavitiy to be filled. Just for their health, I want to know if it is okay and cause no health risk if they don%26#039;t have it filled. Fillings on baby teeth seems like a lost cause because they will lose them soon. Are there certain teeth like molars that I should go ahead and have filled? I don%26#039;t want them to be in pain or have health problems. Anyone knowledgeable in this area? Help!!

Should a child%26#039;s baby teeth cavities be filled? Or let it fall off %26amp; wait for permanent teeth to maintain it?
I want to say that I am not a dentist. But I went through the same thing with my son when he was 9. He was so scared to go to the dentist when he was young, we didn%26#039;t want to force him. He would freak out just sitting in the chair. When I finally got him to cooperate he had 14 teeth that needed fixing, most were baby teeth. The dentist explained that some of those baby teeth should still be in there till 12 years old or so. and the others could become infected. He showed me an article of a 13 year old boy in Baltimore that actually died from a cavity. Apparently they can become so infected that the infection and poison can go to the brain. Now, I don%26#039;t want to scare you to death with that, but it is true. My son had to go into a hospital and be put to sleep to fix all his teeth at once, the rear teeth have metal caps on them. The good news is...he is 10 now, he went for his last check up in December, he had NO cavities and had a good experience at the dentist. His anxiety has dropped now that he sees that the dentist is not always a scary place to be. We are working on better oral hygiene to keep it that way. Now, we drive an hour just to see a special pediatric dentist that works with children specifically. They use gas in the office for fillings and are very kid friendly. It%26#039;s worth the hour drive, trust me.

Take into account the age of your kids and how long they will have those baby teeth in there. Find a good understanding dentist and be honest, ask questions. If it%26#039;s a money issue, tell them. They will figure the best way for both you and your child to get through this. I know how it is.

If you happen to live anywhere near Philadelphia, actually Norristown, that is where the dentist is that we take our son to. They are excellent with kids. email me if you need their name. hpk5569@yahoo.com
Reply:The teeth need to be filled.
Reply:Well, I know from experience, that they want to fill baby teeth because the cavity can go into the permanent tooth underneath. You should deffinantly get them filled.
Reply:WELL SINCE I%26#039;M DON%26#039;T KNOW THE CHILD AGE I CAN%26#039;T HELP U BUT CHECK OUT THIS SITE IT WILL GIVE U LOTS OF INFO...AND UR QUESTION IS THERE TOO...

In a dog, when would the last of the permanent teeth come in?

My 13 pound, 7 month old poodle mix still has not gotten her teeth between her canines and her molars. Is this normal? Also, her lower front teeth are very very small while her canine teeth seem about average.

She eats well and chews on toys etc with no apparent problems but I do see her constantly shift her food to the back of her mouth so that she can get a grip on it.

Thanks for your replies.

It can take till 8 months for permanent teeth to come in,I%26#039;d wait just a bit longer.
Reply:Thank you. I like your answer too. Co-incidentally I received a postcard from the vet saying that she is due for a shot. So this is going to work out perfectly! Report It

Reply:A lot of smaller dogs have teeth issues. You should probably bring her to a vet so they can x-ray her mouth to see if there are any problems that you can%26#039;t see. They can fix her up good as new!
Reply:Your dog should already have the permanent teeth. You need to go to a vet that has training in dental disease and has access to dental radiography (different from regular radiographs in both technique and machinery). Vets get minimal dental training, so finding the right vet is very important. I refer all of mine to someone that is doing her fellowship in dentistry.

Can u please tell me if a permanent teeth filling hurts?

im very scared because im having it tomorrow i remember something they said i think they said they need to replace my old filling with a permanent filling one. can you please tell me the steps they do to do the permanent filling please. oh yeah also tell me if it hurts! i hope not

Can u please tell me if a permanent teeth filling hurts?
i am sure you will get shot of anesthezia and then you won%26#039;t feel a thing! My dentist even put some gel on my gum and then i don%26#039;t feel a needle at all! It will be OK
Reply:Your dentist will numb you so you won%26#039;t feel anything but the prick of a needle. It isn%26#039;t any worse than when you got your old filling.
Reply:No, just a little pinch from the needle is all you should feel. It won%26#039;t be much different from when you had the other filling.
Reply:Actually I just got teeth filled today, and I can tell you it is no where near as bad as I expected! It depends on how bad the cavity is though, it may hurt a little, you can ask to be numbed though. The worst part is the sound the pain is bareable. I hadn%26#039;t been to the denist in year cause I was terrified, and it isn%26#039;t that bad.
Reply:they basically do the same thing they did to fill it the first time, and I%26#039;m sure this did hurt you some-didn%26#039;t it?
Reply:Take it easy. When you had your old filling put in the dentist gave you a painkilling injection and drilled a hole to remove decay and to make it clean for your filling.

To replace your old one, which is probably mercury and bad for your health, he will do exactly the same thing as last time but will put in a filling which looks better and is better for your health.

All you will feel is the injection.

That%26#039;s it.
Reply:They pull out the old filling however they can, sometimes they are ready to come out or they have to drill here and there to get it out.

Then they clean the tooth and drill to get a clean surface for the new filling, they dont take much off the tooth by doing that. Then they put their hocus pocus stuff on it to sterilize it, make the tooth bond to the filling and then voila, its in there.

the worst part is the annoying drilling.

If it hurts, you didnt get enough novacaine, tell the doc if you feel pain - but that means you have to have another shot.

Dont eat until the novacaine wears off, you might bite the inside of your mouth or tongue.
Reply:It sounds to me either you have a temporary filling from a root canal or they are replacing an old filling (silver?) with a bonded filling (white).

The steps on redoing a filling are as follows:

You may or may not need anesthsia (depends on the size of the filling), a root canaled tooth will not need anesthesia b/c the nerve has already been removed.

The old filling will be removed. If there is any decay underneath the filling that will be removed as well.

A blue substance will be applied to the tooth ( this is called Etchant or Etch). It will be rinsed off in a matter of seconds. ( It tastes sour so be prepared)

The tooth will be dryed and must stay dry from now until the filling is cured.

A primer will be placed on the tooth. And then air dryed.

Bonding adhesive will be applied and light cured.

Then the composite filling material will be packed into the hole. This will be light cured as well. It may take a few layers to complete.

You should not be in pain at all. If you are numb...when the numbness wears off it is possible to be a little tender (depending on the size of the filling and if the tooth has had RCT). If you do experience tenderness or sensitivity it is suggested to take ibuprofen to reduce any inflammation that has been caused.

You%26#039;ll be fine. Fillings are not a big deal. I hope I helped out by giving you the run down of the procedure. I know it always helps to ease patients minds if they know what to expect!
Reply:The only part that hurts is the shot to numb the gums.

It smells like burnt bread when they drill the tooth.

You%26#039;ll be able to eat about 30 min after the dentist gets done.

So it can%26#039;t hurt too bad. Huh?

I have yellow teeth. When i was small i had white ones but as permanent tooth came, mine teeth came out yellow.?

please suggest me some tips or any thing to make my teeth white.

I have yellow teeth. When i was small i had white ones but as permanent tooth came, mine teeth came out yellow.?
May be your morning and bedtime tooth brushing isnot proper. Try Glister tooth paste, its a bit costly but it is good. Try chewing gum for some time and neem tree stick straight from the tree.
Reply:genetics are only one of the reasons for yellow teeth. Taking Medication while a child can be a cause too. The otc whiteners work if you can%26#039;t pay for a dentist to do it
Reply:Well, i know u obviously brush your teeth but make sure you brush them up and down not side to side.

U can use listerine after you brush to kill germs that cause yellow teeth.

U can use crest white strips or any of those strips...p.s don%26#039;t use whitening toothpaste, as doctors say they make your teeth sensitive...i think the safest way is to use the strips...also drinks like coca cola and coffee etc are known to stain teeth,if you do drink these brush right after and smoking also causes yellow teeth.

Some of lecturers also say that caucasian people tend hto have the yellowiest teeth...i am not trying to be offensive but just check it up, i don%26#039;t know if that is a fact that is genetic that came with ur permanent teeth....ask your dentist ok and if you don%26#039;t have one get one as it might affect your confidence level in the future.
Reply:do you smoke? that causes yellow teeth....do you get your teeth cleaned by a dentist at least twice a year? that would help cut down on the yellowing......try crest whitestrips, they whitein teeth pretty well over time of using them, also their is a tooth paste called pearl drops whiteing toothpaste, it helps to whiten teeth too
Reply:As we all get older, your teeth go darker with age - this is a natural progression.

This could also be from an illness when the teeth were forming eg. high temperature or ear ache. It could be from medications too.

There are a few different things that you can do for a whiter, brighter smile. If you have any fillings or crowns, please remember that these do not bleach due the material they are made of.

You could visit a hygienist and have your teeth professionally scaled and polished. It may only be surface staining and that can be removed when polished.

But if the %26quot;yellow%26quot; colour is in the tooth, it will need to be bleached.

Making our teeth %26quot;whiter%26quot; is simple but teeth will only bleach to their inherit colour.

You could consider laser or %26quot;zoom%26quot; bleaching which is done in office with your dentist. A high concentrate of bleach is painted onto the teeth and a light is used to acclerate the bleach - it takes about 1 hour. This can be expensive about $1200++ and teeth are extremely sensitive for days and days afterwards.

A home bleaching kit is another option. It is less expensive - costs about $250++ and is done at home.

Moulds are taken of teeth and trays are custom made.

It takes about 7 to 10 days - the bleach is a slowly releasing peroxide and teeth will become gradually whiter.

The %26quot;whiting%26quot; toothpaste doesn%26#039;t really work as the bleach is kept on the teeth long enough to really work.

This is my opinion, I hope it helps.

It looks like my 5-year-old has a permanent tooth coming in behind his baby teeth. What should be done?

My son has a bottom tooth coming in, and it%26#039;s behind his bottom baby teeth. As far as I can tell none of his baby teeth are loose--of course he refuses to let me take a look. He doesn%26#039;t seem to be uncomfortable.

Should he see a dentist?

It looks like my 5-year-old has a permanent tooth coming in behind his baby teeth. What should be done?
Usually, the permanent tooth comes in UNDERNEATH the baby tooth, dissolving the roots as it comes in. That%26#039;s how the baby tooth becomes loose enough to fall out. If the baby tooth is loose, encourage him to wiggle it a bit each day to coax it to fall out. If it isn%26#039;t and the permanent tooth continues to grow in behind the tooth, it is best to have a dentist remove the baby tooth as soon as possible so that the permanent one has room to grow in. If you wait too long, the tooth may find its new position farther back and your son may need braces to correct it.
Reply:Yes. Bring him to the dentist.
Reply:this happened to me when i was a kid... he needs to go to a dentist or orthadontist. If he doesnt get it removed and let it grow in straight it can cost you a bundle in braces...
Reply:thats how they grow the new tooth will push is baby tooth out eventually
Reply:I would also suggest taking him to the dentist. My nephew had a similar situation, and there was a small cyst that had to be removed so the baby tooth could come out and the adult tooth could come in...it was not a big deal, but it would have caused more problems if nothing had been done.

Good luck!
Reply:The perm. tooth will push the baby tooth out of the way. I wouldn%26#039;t do anything.
Reply:You do nothing. That%26#039;s a natural thing called a 6 year molar. Some people call it the first molar. We have 4 of these, two upper and two lower and they errupt just behind the last baby tooth in the back. This %26quot;6 year%26quot; molar can errupt anywhere from age 5 to 7. There is nothing wrong and no, he does not need to see a dentist unless he%26#039;s having some problem. I hope this helps. :)
Reply:What lots of the other people are saying too because this happened to my sister and we just waited and the perm tooth pushed her baby tooth out so i would just leave it bu if he gets uncomfortable with it then you should take him to see the dentist.
Reply:If the tooth is in the BACK then sure, it%26#039;s probably just th enormal eruption of the six year molar. If it%26#039;s coming in in the FRONT behind the baby lower incisors, then that could be a concern... If he%26#039;s scheduled to see the dentist within the next 2-3 months anywya, you%26#039;re pobably ok waiting %26#039;til then. If not, you probably want to have it looked at...I can%26#039;t really answer for you w/o looking in your son%26#039;s mouth and/or looking at xrays.

Now, if your son is five years old and doesn%26#039;t see a dentist regularly, you need to get on the horse and get him in ANYway...I think kids shoudl be seen starting at 2 or 3...the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists and the ADA actually says one year old! which is not unreasonable, either.

As for the dentist%26#039;s wife above who said %26quot;don%26#039;t worry%26quot;... I%26#039;m kind of surprised, if only because you%26#039;d think she%26#039;d be more cognizant of where her bread is buttered! Lol... seriously tho%26#039;, I%26#039;m not always saying to run to the dentist for everything, even in cases where I coudl make a buck on it...

good luck!
Reply:My daughter%26#039;s did that. I guess the permanent would eventually push the baby teeth out. I didn%26#039;t think of that and took her to a dentist and had them pulled. It was very simple, almost like just lifting them out.
Reply:sometimes the tooth doesnt push the new tooth out... this happened with my sister and her teeth ended up growing behind her other ones when she was young and now her teeth are not too hot looking. My teeth didnt push other teeth out when I was 5-to 15 so I had to pull them out myself, my dad pulled some out and a dentist also pulled 2 out. If you arent sure go to a dentist but they should push them out!
Reply:This is not uncommon at all. This happens to a lot of kids. I would just let the adult tooth push the baby tooth out. If you want you can have him see a dentist but I am sure all they will do is have you pay tons of money to numb it up and pull the tooth out. I do not think it is worth it but its your choice.
