Do your permanent teeth have to be fully grown in to get braces?

I really want braces but I have heard that your permanent teeth need to be fully grown in. Yes, I have lost all of my baby teeth, but they are not fullly grown back in yet. I lost them about 4 years ago and they are still not in..is that a problem also?

Do your permanent teeth have to be fully grown in to get braces?
Braces can be worn at any age! The American Association of Orthodontists suggests that children be looked at as early as age 7 to detect and intercept developing tooth problems. Most kids start wearing braces between age 11 and 13, which coincides with the time that most baby teeth are lost, and most permanent teeth are fully grown in place.
Reply:no its not a problem i have braces and im 12
Reply:When I wanted braces, I thought two of my teeth weren%26#039;t grown in all the way. I went to the dentist and they said that they weren%26#039;t going to come down all the way. This might be your case. They had to pull them down with braces. You probably should just go see an orthodontist and see what he has to say.
Reply:Yeah, your pernament teeth do need to be fully grown before getting braces, because when your teeth aren%26#039;t fully grown in your mouth, they still have a lot of movement and are still pushing there way through. If braces are put on then, it would be really painful and the braces wouldn%26#039;t really work.

What do you mean by not fully in, as in half way there?

If that, and after 4 years, i think that would be a problem because i read somewhere that if they aren%26#039;t in, its either they have stopped or are not strong enough to push through, so i would seriously get that checked out.
