My 7 year old son lost his two front primary teeth 5 month ago in May, but up to now (Oct. 10) there is still no sign that his permanent teeth will erupt. I started to worry. Is this abnormal? Does any have similar experiences? Thanks in advance.
Is it abnormal that the permanent teeth do not erupt 5 months after primary teeth fell off?
What you are describing is one of the reasons why the American Association of Orthodontists recommends an evaluation by an orthodontist by age 7. It is likely that the teeth are just a little slow to erupt. But it is also possible that something may be hindering their eruption.
Sometimes a panoramic x-ray will be taken to evaluate the position of the teeth, other times just waiting will be recommended. If the teeth are being hindered in their eruption, the correction will depend on what the cause is. Sometimes extracting other baby teeth will solve the problem, and other times braces may be recommended if the teeth are impacted and will not self erupt.
Most orthodontists in the U.S. do not charge for their initial exam, so I would recommend that you take your son to see an orthodontist soon.
Reply:Could be a sign that they are growing crooked or may need to be assisted by a Dentist. I would definitely take him to a dentist. My friend%26#039;s son had this problem and they had to cut him gum line to let them come in. It wasn%26#039;t too bad on him at all!
Reply:simple test :
press with your finger on the extracted site from labial side , if the gum whiten with the shape of the coming teeth its ok
if not your dentidst will do x ray
