Getting a permanent (3 teeth) upper front bridge and crowns?

After two years of wearing a partial front upper, with a metal roof, I am soo happy to be able to throw this thing out very soon.. On this Thursday, (I had an impression made almost two weeks ago), I will go and get my fixed/permanent bridge? Or will it be one that is just a temporary?

Also, I will be getting several crowns up top, to make it all look nice, but THAT is what I am scared of... they sand down your own teeth to almost nothing, I am told, and then put the crown/cap over it.. Anyone have any of this done? How was it? Dentist says it will take three visits. On Thursday, he says I will be there about two hours. Any comments or advice would be greatly appeciated!

It sounds like you will be getting temporaries on Thursday, not the permanent bridge. in order for a bridge to have been made the teeth on each side of the bridge would of had to be prepped (sanded down). they don%26#039;t sand them down to almost nothing its only enough to make room for the porc. crown. Most of the time it can be done in 2 or 3 visits. In your case since your dentist already took some impressions maybe he is making a wax work up. the lab will take the impressions create the bridge and crowns in wax so you can see what the will look like before the work is done then they will use that model to create your temporary from.usually you will be in temps. for about 3 weeks Just remember if you don%26#039;t like the shape of shade don%26#039;t have it cemented you have waited long enough and it should be perfect labs are used to making changes @ no additional charge to you

Reply:Thanks! I am so happy I did it..If anyone out there, is wearing a partial..oh, please, be brave and get rid of that thing if you can! My partial was fine,(three teeth in the front),but nothing is better than this! Report It

Reply:I work in a dental office. I have a crown also. Your teeth have to be prepped(filed down some) so that your natural teeth can retain the bridge. You will probably get a temp. first because your impressions are sent to the Dental Lab so that your permanent can be fabricated. It is way better aesthetically than the denture you had. You will love your new smile. That is a wonderful procedure to have done. Enjoy your new smile!!!:)
Reply:It sounds like you have the %26quot;prep%26quot; visit coming up. You will leave with a tempoary bridge and in a couple or few weeks, you will have the real thing.
