Wiggly permanent teeth...help!!!?

I used to have braces, and since have lost my retainer that i was supposed to use afterwards. I continue using the little bands that i was supposed to use with the retainer because it keeps my gap from returning...but is all this shifting bad for my teeth? I noticed this morning that I can move my teeth with my fingers...Is this normal? are the bands hurting my teeth? HELP!

That can%26#039;t be good! Get to the orthodontist, STAT!!
Reply:When you have ortho treatment, it%26#039;s actually moving your teeth position. What you experiencing may be the moving part. DO NOT wriggle your tooth anymore with your finger, it will only get it more loose! When a tooth moves, the bones need sometime to %26#039;grow%26#039; again to hold the tooth. See your dentist if you can. Meanwhile keep your gums really clean, you can rinse with warm salt water.
Reply:you should first see your hygienist and let her make sure the bone around your teeth is where it should be.

then go back to your orthodontist if a new retainer is needed. your teeth may be reverting to their original position or trying to- this can happen if you don%26#039;t wear your retainer for a few years afterwards.

yes, the shifting back and forth back and forth is not all that great for your bone so you need to get everything stabilized quickly
